Friends, buyers, countrymen

Another long, long week without Internet access, although I have spent more time mucking around on the floor with my titchy-boy, I have felt rather cut off from society. Luckily being back at work has allowed me to check emails (and increasingly regular purchases!) nightly.

I have been on a bit of a making spree this week as well, no Internet access does wonders for my creative flow, as I'm not pissing about on the forums, I can actually get down to creating!

I totally love both of these designs (now available in my shop, here!)

I have also been working on my wholesale price list. If you would like a copy, and you are the buyer for a business or retail outlet, you can grab yourself a copy of the list by emailing me at cakeadaykatie@hotmail.co.uk. I'm talking to two shops right now about stocking my jewellery in the UK, and a website already carries twinklyspangle.com jewellery. So things are going well in that respect. Plus, my Dad has finally finished the catalogue stage of the website, so that will be up for your viewing (and purchasing) pleasure shortly. He is also sorted out my Internet connection at home, so provided my laptop doesn't give up the ghost - the adapter is buggered. Seriously, it's not even funny, Ramsey has been pulling at the cord (do you know something funny? I actually put "corn" there, and it was only when I read it back through that I noticed) and all the wires are dangling loose, I'm surprised that it still even works.

I hope you are all well, my lovely readers. I'm off to get myself an extra strong coffee. Tomorrow, my boyfriend IS going to finish my crafty cupboard, so I'm going to have my own little studio, I'm so excited!

P.S I'm looking for fun blogs to add to my blogroll - if you post in the comments here, I'll be checking out your blog and if I like it, I'll add your link to the side.

Phlog!

Photos + Blog = Phlog!

Yesterday I thought, "Hmm...I haven't updated my blog for a few days so I had better think of something. I know!" So I took loads of photos of my day, one every hour, on the half hour, so you have have a thrilling, enticing glimpse into my life and all it's interesting twists and turns. Ahem.
So, here we go!

8.30am: Enjoying my morning coffee. I have a small piece of weetabix in it, and it's cold, and in a Christmas mug. I'm pure elegance, me.

9.30am: Trying to check my email, but not getting a moments peace.
10.30am: Watching This Morning!

11.30am: Feeding
my bubba

12.30pm: My bubba is sleeping, it's crafty time.

1.30pm: Ramseys awake and lunch is ready - we always have lunch together :)

2.30pm: Playing with my chubba on the floor!

3.30pm: Going to post a letter quickly, while Daddy is home for lunch to look after the baby

4.30pm: Getting ready for work

5.30pm: Waiting for Daddy to pick us up to take me to work

6.30pm: Talking to a customer on the telephone!

7.30pm: Can it get more exciting? Getting a form to fax to someone!

8.30pm: Nearly home time, getting a bit silly!

9.30pm: Can finally relax with a glass of wine and some telly!

So that was my day yesterday! During my little craftytime there, I made a fab new range of jewellery. Using sparkly little beads and wire, in the same style as my Fluro set, I made this gorgeous necklace, which you can purchase in my Etsy shop as a set or on their own. If you buy the set, you even get a free pair of matching earrings, what more could you ask for? I think you should treat yourself :)

Window Shopping

I feel a little like I am in some kind of black hole of space and time. Where is all my time going otherwise? It's Sunday afternoon and I haven't picked up a pair of pliers for days, it feels.

I have not had the crafty weekend that I wanted to have, but I will do next weekend, come hell or high water!

Meanwhile, I have been gazing enviously at some gorgeous pieces on Etsy. It's great to browse and see such a variety of stuff, but it's even better when you see something you would never have dreamed up but you wish you had. It's fab what comes out of people's minds and supplies. I just adore these:

The Tea Party Resin Pendant Necklace crafted by stoopidgerl.etsy.com. She makes a whole range of them, her stuff is so vibrant and her photos are fab too - I want to eat them!

I also just LOVE these, how much of a fab idea is this? I adore odd, crazy, fun stuff like this, so if anyone wants to buy me one, please go right ahead.

Lego Book with Build Your Own Cover created by Moonlightbindery. I can just imagine sitting at my desk at work (which is going fine, thanks for asking. I'm exhausted but pleased to get out of the house!) fiddling with the Lego pieces and being so, so happy!
I'm at work right now, as it goes. Updating my blog. How much of a coop is that? I'm also watching BBLB - Big Brother rules! It's super quiet today and I still have a good few hours to go.

Poor Little Man

What a weekend!

Firstly I made a plastercast of a rubber glove. I thought it would be great to use to display rings on when I find a craft show that is before December. It's taking a rather long while to dry, and there is an odd crack in one of the fingers, but it looks wicked, and I shall take a picture of it so you can gaze in wonderment at it's kitschy fabulousness!

Then my little cherub got taken ill. He has a funny tummy bog and an upper respiratory viral infection, his little cheeks are red as a pair of tomatoes and he is being sick all the time. It was our first visit to the hospital with him since he was born and it was terrifying. He is alright now, finally, finally sleeping soundly, bless his little cotton socks (well, sock. I haven't managed to keep a pair of socks on him all day yet without one going missing, I'm sure he eats them when I am not looking.

The website creation is going well. We have set a launch date for the 1st of September. My computer-whiz Dad is fiddling with it daily, it's starting to look very professional! See, right now, if you type in http://www.twinklyspangle.com/ you'll come to this blog, and the only sales outlet is Etsy, which you have to be a member to purchase from. But the new website will allow everyone with a credit card or paypal account to purchase twinklyspangle creations! It's all very exciting, but a lot of work. I need take loads of new pics of my stuff, as well as create 20 lines for the website to launch with. I'll keep you updated with the progress!

Acceptance

We have a craft store in town called Needlecraft. It's slightly out of the town centre, but still within walking distance, and I love it! They have SO much stuff crammed into a tiny shop (I can barely get my pram in there) and I can spend hours just picking things up, moving things about to see what is hiding behind. They have a bunch of tubs of random supples, bows, buttons, findings, all sorts of stuff. I spent £6 when I only meant to spent £1.10, I got:

  • Some sexy black chain
  • 1/2 meter of silver chain
  • Some keyring fobs - I haven't ever made keyrings, but I have the cutest green heart charms that would be purrrrrfect!
  • Two packs of round beads
  • 20 jumprings
  • 6 headpins
  • Two cute mushroom buttons
  • Some ladybug buttons

It was so fun, I always feel really inspired after a visit there. But anyway, the point I am trying to make is that finally, for the first time EVER, the woman behind the counter didn't seem to hate me! She usually gives me the death stare because I make her count out 20 or 30 jumprings at a time, and always complain when she hasn't got a baggy for them. But, today, she actually asked me what I was making with all my loot, so we even had a little chat.

Now I don't have to dread going there anymore :)

A Productive Evening

I bought myself a chunky kitkat (the best chocolate ever!) and settled in for an evening of creativity and plastic joy!

I made:
  • The cutest, jangly new earrings ever, with my new bells
  • A new brooch, which I can't think of a name for and is going to bug me all night
  • Some drop studs in pink and light green, with stars and some brand new birdy charms

I'm going to go MAD if I don't find some split ring openers soon though, I accidentally bought like, 50 million split rings, which are nigh on impossible to open without the special tool, they are really driving me loopy-loo.

I also packaged up two new orders to send out, I'm so excited, the absolute best, most proudest moment of my crafting career (multiples!) is when I get feedback from my happy, happy customers!

To The Craft Store!

I must, must, must go to the craft shop today. I need some more headpins. Ramsey loves the craft shop, I think it's all the sparkly stuff on the shelves, but the woman in there is really unfriendly, she appears to be looking at me like there is no way I could posibly create something worthy of her supplies. There is some paranoia for you eh?

I also need to work on a logo. I'm terrible at that kind of thing, I want something I have drawn, but my drawing tends to look like something a five year old would have been told off for drawing on a wall or something.

Megan is out. Megan is our tarantula, she is a Chilean Rose (Gramastola Cara, if you like the latin) and she scares me half to death. My boyfriend is feakily obsessed with her, to the point where he likes to sit in the dark, so she comes out and twiddles her horrid hairy legs. I didn't see why we couldn't get a nice, smily frog or something. Or a guinea pig. Or nothing.
