Dog Beast

Hi :-) I'm writing this sitting in a bus stop on a windy day, eating a bag of penny sweets. Yum!

I really dislike dogs. Which is why I'm a bit horrified this week that I seem to have adopted a giant beast of one. Its a temporary arrangement, but its causing rather a lot of irreversible damage to the interior of my home.

She belongs to my ex-partner and father of my child, who lives with his brother who also has a Dog Beast. But a boy...and its mating season. I know what you're thinking. Why didn't I Just Say No? Partly because Ramsey adores the dog and partly because, ridiculously, I thought walking it might be the exercise I need to burn off all those cakes I've been eating for breakfast. Which I suppose might be true but more energy is expelled trying not to have my arm wrenched out of its socket.

Do you have a dog? Please tell me why anyone would chose to be woken up by a giant slobbering poop-machine?

Did you get the short straw? I think I'd have preferred looking after a dog rather than a bitch in season! She does look beautiful though (not sure about the spiky collar!) I have a small dog, I wasn't a dog person, but he has converted me-naughty, but full of fun, company and yes the excercise element. I really miss him when he isn't here, so beware or you might be offering to have her for longer than you expected!;) Good luck:)

We have two dogs, for our sins! Both huge and both very very pully. But I wouldn't be without them now, I love them to bits.

In a totally un-related bit, how do you manage to post to your blog from your Blackberry, I have tried to set it up on mine no end of times, but just can't seem to get it to work. Amy advice would be lovely.

Erm... my dog doesn't go upstairs, go on the furniture, slobber, pull on his lead, ask to go outside, scratch the door, jump up (unless we've made his very excited), bark, or wake you up in the morning :S He just sits in his bed most of the time and he does more than Penny ever did :S I love him.

It's all about the breed and the discipline ;) *ironically shouts at dog for crying for not being stroked this instant*

haha....our dog doesn't slobber, we got very lucky. But she jumps and is a hyper giant beast. Our kids love her and so do we. Not everyone is a dog lover....it's ok:) Well good luck and she looks like a cutie.

Mine dont slobber either, yuk. But do agree with Pennydog there it is all in the training. A well trained dog is a joy to have around (well for most of us).

Be a dull world if we were all the same though, so hope your houseguest finds somewhere more appropriate soon.

Big Daddy and me are not into dogs at all but Baby K is loving them and now she is walking she stops and points at every one giving out strokes whenever possible and gets the odd lick in return. Yuk! its disgusting but of course I can't show her this. I have learnt to tolerate them more but dread the day when she wants one as she will be very upset when the answer is a very firm NO!

Hello Katie,

I have a question about an old blog post you had.

I was browsing google last night looking for cool Christmas ornament ideas and I came across your sparkly beaded ornament. I'd love to try this, but I have a couple questions. I will admit that I'm not the most crafty person so I apologize for the stupidity of these. I also apologize for contacting you this way, but the link you provided for questions at the end of thatblog post does not work, so I wasn't sure how else to contact you.

First off, you call for head pins. When I think of "head pins" I picture pins with different colored balls on the ends (head), but in your picture on your blog, the pins do not have those at the end. Did you cut off the ends of the pins with wire cutters?

Second, you say that you put the beads on the pin, cut part of the pin off, and then glue the pin and stick it in the ball. Are you only gluing the end of the pin that goes inside the ball? If so, how do the beads not fall off the ends of the pin? I understand that the pin is glued and stuck to the inside of the ball, but I do not understand what keeps the beads from falling off the other end?

I'm sorry to be a nuisance, but I'd love to try this project; I just want to make sure I understand how to!

Thanks in advance for any help/clarification you can give me!
